Encode text to Base64 or decode Base64 back to text, with full UTF-8 support.

Runs in your browser — your text and files never leave your device.
Base64 is an encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it. Accents, emoji and other non-Latin text are handled as UTF-8.
Base64 turns bytes into plain letters and digits so they can travel through systems that expect text. This page encodes and decodes it in both directions, including accents and emoji.
How to use it
- Choose Text → Base64 or Base64 → text.
- Paste your input.
- Press Encode or Decode, then copy the result.
Good to know
- Base64 is an encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it, so never use it to protect a password or a secret.
- Both the standard and the URL-safe alphabet decode correctly, and whitespace in the input is ignored.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the Base64 longer than the original text?
Base64 uses four characters to carry three bytes, so the encoded text is roughly a third longer.
Can it decode an image or another file?
No. This tool handles text. Decoding binary data into text would produce characters that mean nothing.
